  • Dead space: Behind seats, under a false floor, or against a canopy wall, instead of giving up a cupboard.
  • Not a small-battery class: Thin cases on this page include long-stay capacities, not only a weekend fridge pack.
  • LiFePO4 and a BMS: The brands here publish lithium iron phosphate cells and a battery management system.
  • Discharge still matters: A flat case can still be a high-current pack. Check the continuous amp rating if an inverter is in the plan.
  • Plan the lift: Some slim packs are an easy one-person carry. The largest NextGen ultra slim cases are published around 95kg to 102kg.

What to Look for in a Slimline Lithium Battery

  • The narrow side: Custom Lithium's 100Ah Ultra Slim is 55mm thick and the NextGen Ultra Slim is 57mm. Amptron's BluEdge 105Ah is 635 x 60 x 285mm. Those are different cavities.
  • Rails and terminals: A Custom Lithium 310Ah NextGen Ultra Slim is 610 x 405 x 84mm, and 645 x 475 x 84mm with rails. Measure the overall figure, not only the bare case.
  • Deeper "slimline" cases: Enerdrive's B-Tec 300Ah is about 630 x 498 x 176.5mm and the 400Ah is 630 x 216.5 x 498mm. That is a much deeper case than a 55mm ultra slim pack, so measure it against the cavity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Slimline Lithium Batteries

What are some of the advantages of picking a slimline battery?

You spend the missing dimension, not the whole locker. A flat pack can sit in space that was doing nothing, and the capacity is not stuck at a weekend size. Custom Lithium's 230Ah Ultra Slim is published at 66mm thick, and the 230Ah NextGen Ultra Slim at 71mm, which is long-stay storage in a case that mounts flat. You still match the charger and the loads to that battery. The win is the install, not a free pass on wiring.

Is every slimline case on this page about the same thickness?

No. The thinnest Custom Lithium ultra slim cases here are 55mm and 57mm. Amptron's BluEdge 105Ah is 60mm on the narrow side. Enerdrive's B-Tec 12V 100Ah slimline is 551 x 109 x 239mm, so the narrow side is 109mm, and the 300Ah and 400Ah B-Tec slimline cases step out to about 176.5mm and 216.5mm deep. "Slimline" is a family of shapes. Take the millimetres from the listing you are buying.

Why do some overall dimensions look bigger than the case?

Rails, terminals and supports sit outside the cell case. The Custom Lithium 310Ah NextGen Ultra Slim grows from 610 x 405 x 84mm to 645 x 475 x 84mm once the rails are included. Tistar publishes at least one slimline size "including terminals and supports", such as the 12V 200Ah slimline at 660 x 472 x 73mm. If the cavity is a close fit, the overall figure is the one that has to clear.

Can I hang a heavy ultra slim pack off a side rail?

Not when the listing says the floor has to carry it. The largest Custom Lithium NextGen ultra slim packs are published at about 95kg, 98kg, 100kg and 102kg. Their install notes say to hard-mount along a canopy base so the weight sits on the floor, rather than leaving a bottom rail to hold the pack. That is a qualified auto electrician job, not a Saturday experiment with a couple of screws.

Does a thinner case mean I can only run a fridge?

The shape does not set the current. Custom Lithium's 100Ah slim and ultra slim packs list 180A continuous. Amptron's BluEdge slimline 100Ah lists 200A continuous, and several larger Custom Lithium slim cases list 200A or 330A continuous. That is inverter territory, as long as the inverter, cable and fuse match the battery you actually buy. Read the continuous figure on that listing before you size the 240V side.

What if my bay is a normal battery box, not a slot?

Then a flat case can be the awkward choice, because it is often long or tall instead of deep. A conventional tray is usually happier with a block-shaped pack. Start with 100Ah lithium batteries or 200Ah lithium batteries, where standard cases sit alongside the slim ones. Come back to this page when the limiting measurement is thickness.
