48V Power That Actually Fits In The Bay

Most 4x4s, caravans and motorhomes just haven't got the room for a standard 48V battery. You either cut the bay apart or you give up on 48V altogether. Neither's much of a choice.

This one's only 126mm wide, so it slides into the narrow spots where a normal 48V pack won't go, and you still get the full 50Ah and 100A continuous out of it.

It also runs Dynamic Active Balancing instead of the passive sort you'll find on most batteries. Rather than burning off the extra from your strongest cells, it shifts charge between them, which keeps the pack healthier as the years go on. Brackets, cables and hardware are all in the box, and there's a 5 year warranty behind it.

Stop fighting your battery bay. Add one to your cart today.

Why The Amptron 48V 50Ah Slimline EGON Battery May Be Right For You:

  • Get 48V into a bay that won't take one with a 650 x 126 x 235mm slimline vented case, so you're not pulling your compartment apart just to fit a battery.
  • Hold onto your usable capacity for longer thanks to Dynamic Active Balancing at 2A alongside passive balancing, which moves charge between cells rather than just bleeding off the strong ones.
  • Run the heavy gear without stressing the pack with 100A continuous and a 150A peak for three seconds, which covers the surge when your inverter kicks in.
  • Know exactly what your battery's doing through the free Amptron Link app over Bluetooth, with state of charge, individual cell voltages, cycle count, temperature and alerts, plus charge and discharge control from your phone.
  • Tie it into the rest of your setup using CAN and RS485 through the P1 and P2 ports, so it talks to your inverter and monitoring instead of sitting there on its own.
  • Add more batteries later without redoing your wiring because the P1 and P2 ports handle master and slave comms, letting the whole bank report back through one connection.
  • Get it into position without doing your back in using the two cushioned carry handles on top, which you'll appreciate on a 24kg battery going into a tight spot.
  • Fit it without a run to the shops since the brackets, bolts, comms cables, USB lead and vent fitting all come in the box.

Amptron 48V 50Ah Slimline EGON Battery FAQs

1. What makes this different to a standard 48V battery?
The width, mainly. At 126mm it'll go into bays that won't take a normal 48V pack, which is the whole reason this model exists. You still get the 50Ah and the 100A continuous, in a 650 x 126 x 235mm vented aluminium case at 24kg, with a couple of cushioned handles to help you wrangle it into place.

2. What's Dynamic Active Balancing, and does it actually matter?
Standard passive balancing just burns the extra energy off your strongest cells as heat. Active balancing at 2A shifts that charge across to the weaker ones instead, so the cells stay closer together over time. In practice that means you hang onto more usable capacity across the battery's 2000 plus cycles, rather than the weakest cell calling the shots for the whole pack.

3. Can I run a few of these together?
In parallel, yes. The P1 and P2 ports handle master and slave comms, so the whole bank reports back through one connection instead of you monitoring each battery separately. Series isn't supported though, so you can't wire two together and run 96V.

4. Where can I mount it, given it's vented?
It's IP52 rated with an external vent, so it'll handle dust and the odd drip, but not spray or a dunking. Keep it somewhere dry and protected with the vent clear, not underfloor or out in the weather. If you need something properly sealed for a wet spot, give us a call on 1300 902 361 and we'll sort you out.

5. What's involved in wiring it up?
The DC terminals are M8 studs torqued to 6Nm, so don't go flogging them up tight, that's how terminals get wrecked. There are threaded holes on the base and side for the brackets that come with it. At 48V and 100A though, this is a job for a qualified installer unless you really know what you're doing.
