The Amptron 24V 200Ah Lithium Battery Is Built Tough For Tough Aussie Set-Ups Tight on space but still want a battery with some serious grunt? The ...
View full detailsA 24V lithium battery makes sense when a system outgrows 12V. Doubling the voltage halves the current for the same load, so big inverters run cooler on thinner cable. Our range of 24V LiFePO4 batteries runs from a compact 50Ah up to a 620Ah ultra slim pack, for trucks, boats, larger caravans and off-grid sheds.
Read moreMost camping and touring setups are still 12V, and our lithium batteries for camping cover those. A 24V system tends to suit new builds with a heavy 240V load, or vehicles and vessels that already run 24V. For larger commercial and off-grid systems, we also stock 36V lithium batteries and 48V lithium batteries.
We stock 24V lithium batteries from brands trusted on Aussie trucks, vans and boats:
Amp-hours at 24V hold twice the energy they do at 12V. A 24V 100Ah battery stores about 2560Wh, the same as a 12V 200Ah. Compare batteries in watt-hours to see what you're really getting when you switch voltages.
Match the battery's continuous rating to your inverter. Ratings across this range run from 70A on the smallest pack to 380A on the Custom Lithium 24V 460Ah. As a guide, a 3000W inverter at 24V draws roughly 125A to 140A at full load, so most of the larger packs here handle it comfortably.
A 24V battery needs a 24V charger and a solar controller that supports 24V. In a 12V vehicle, you'll need a 12V to 24V DC-DC charger. To run 12V appliances like lights or a water pump, add a 24V to 12V converter, or check whether your fridge runs on both voltages, as many compressor fridges do.

Not directly. Plugging 12V gear into 24V can damage it. Most 24V setups use a 24V to 12V converter for lights, pumps, USB outlets and radios. Some appliances, including many compressor fridges, accept 12V or 24V, so check the label before you buy a converter big enough to run everything.
Use a DC-DC charger that steps 12V up to 24V with a lithium charge profile. A standard 12V DC-DC charger won't do the job. For solar, use an MPPT controller that supports a 24V battery. At home or on a powered site, you'll need a 24V AC charger.
Usually, yes. With a single 24V pack, one BMS watches and balances every cell. Two 12V batteries in series each have their own BMS, so they can drift apart over time, and not every 12V lithium battery is rated for series use. A single 24V battery is also one install, with fewer links and terminals to work loose.
Only if your loads demand it. Converting means replacing the chargers and solar controller and adding a converter for 12V gear, so it rarely pays off for a fridge-and-lights setup. It's worth it on a new build with air con, induction cooking or a 3000W-plus inverter. For a typical 12V van, a larger battery like our 300Ah lithium batteries is the simpler upgrade.
It climbs quickly with capacity. The Amptron 24V 50Ah is 13.5kg and the Custom Lithium 24V 200Ah is about 38kg, while the 24V 620Ah ultra slim is 102kg. Anything past 40kg needs solid mounting, a two-person lift and a check against your vehicle's payload.
