Caravan air conditioners typically require 2,000–3,000W continuous power plus additional surge capacity. A 3–3.5kW Hyundai inverter generator will handle most 10,000 BTU roof-mounted units comfortably. Larger 15,000 BTU units generally require a 4–5kW Hyundai portable generator. Always check your air conditioner's starting watts (usually 2–3 times running watts) and add around a 20% buffer. The generator must be able to handle startup surge without overloading, and many users also run lights and charging devices alongside the air conditioner.
Many Hyundai inverter generators support parallel operation using a compatible parallel kit (sold separately). This allows you to connect two identical or compatible models to effectively double your output. However, only parallel-capable models or those with matching specifications will work, so you should always check the manufacturer’s guidelines before purchasing or connecting units.
Runtime depends on load and fuel tank size. A 2kW Hyundai inverter generator running at 25% load (around 500W) typically runs for 8–10 hours on a full tank. At full load (2,000W), runtime is usually around 3–4 hours. Eco-mode can extend runtime by adjusting engine speed based on demand. Larger Hyundai diesel generators with bigger tanks can run 12–20 hours at half load. Always check model specifications for accurate figures.
Standard Hyundai generators produce raw AC power with fluctuating voltage, making them louder and less efficient. Hyundai inverter generators produce clean, stable power suitable for sensitive electronics like laptops and phones. They are quieter (around 60–65dB vs 80–90dB), lighter, more fuel-efficient, and adjust engine speed automatically based on load. Inverter models are ideal for camping, while standard generators suit heavy-duty construction use.
You should not connect lithium batteries directly to a Hyundai generator. Instead, use a proper lithium-compatible battery charger or DC-DC charger. Plug the charger into the generator’s 240V outlet and connect it to your batteries. Alternatively, use an inverter charger system. Most users run the generator for 2–3 hours to efficiently recharge batteries.
Regular maintenance includes oil changes every 50–100 hours, air filter cleaning every 50 hours, and replacement every 200 hours. Replace fuel filters annually. Run the generator under load monthly to prevent fuel system issues and keep seals lubricated. Use fresh diesel rather than stored fuel. Also regularly check coolant levels, battery terminals, and belt tension.
