How is this different from the GHP18000E-LRT?
Same engine, same 18 kVA output, same outlets — the difference is the tank and the frame. The FBT sits on a skid base with a 50 litre fuel tank built into it, giving 14 hours at 60% load in a longer, lower, wider package at 155 kg. The LRT runs a 25 litre tank inside an extra-large roll frame, so 7 hours run time, but it's more compact and 10 kg lighter. Pick the FBT if it's staying put and you want fewer refuels; pick the LRT if it's moving between jobs.
Will it back up a whole house?
18 kVA single phase at 240 V is enough for most Australian homes running normally — not just the essentials — and the 50 litre tank means it'll carry an outage overnight without attention. Any permanent connection to your switchboard has to go through a licensed electrician with a changeover switch; never backfeed a generator into a power point, which is illegal and can kill linesmen working on the network.
What does it need before the first start?
Check the oil and fuel, confirm nothing's worked loose in transit, and run it on level ground with clear air all round. A wheel kit is available as an option — at 155 kg dry plus up to 50 litres of fuel, this isn't something you shift by hand. Follow the supplied operating instructions rather than guessing.
What safety precautions apply?
Outdoors only, always. Petrol generators produce carbon monoxide, which you can't see or smell and which kills — never run it in a shed, garage or under an awning, even with doors open. Keep it clear of flammable materials, don't exceed its rated output, and let the engine cool before refuelling. With 50 litres on board, keep ignition sources well away when filling.
What's covered by the warranty?
A 3 year limited engine warranty through Genelite as the Australian distributor. It doesn't cover misuse, neglect, accident damage, improper installation, unauthorised repairs or modifications, normal wear and tear, or damage from non-approved fuels and oils. Consumables like filters and fuses aren't covered. Service it at the intervals in the manual and keep your proof of purchase and service records.
