1. Is the XP ICON suitable for beginners?
Yes. The XP ICON is designed to be easy to use, with 3 factory programs and 3 customisable user programs. Simply switch on the remote, select the program suited to your terrain and start detecting. It works across parks, fields, beaches, forests and shallow water.
2. Does the XP ICON require assembly before use?
Only basic setup is required. The detector uses the lightweight S-Telescopic Lite stem and an 11-inch FMF search coil. Once the components are correctly fitted, the remote control and coil communicate wirelessly, reducing cables and making setup quick and straightforward.
3. Is the XP ICON safe to use in water?
Yes. The XP ICON is waterproof to 5 metres, making it suitable for wet sand and shallow-water detecting. For full underwater detecting, XP specifies that an optional IP68 bone-conduction headset is required. Always ensure the detector and appropriate accessories are correctly configured for underwater use.
4. What warranty does the XP ICON come with?
The XP ICON comes with a 5-year parts and labour warranty from XP. The manufacturer advises activating the detector online after purchase to receive full warranty coverage. XP also offers an optional additional 5-year warranty extension.
