Vortex Viper HD 85mm Reticle Eyepiece MOA

Viper 85mm Reticle Eyepiece: Turn Your Spotter Into a Measuring Stick

Calling corrections by feel is guesswork with a confident voice. The Vortex Viper 85mm Eyepiece fixes that by putting a hashmarked MOA ranging reticle right in your spotting scope, so instead of "a bit left, maybe a foot high" you're telling the shooter exactly how many minutes to come across and how many to come down. Fixed 33.5x means one less thing to fiddle with, the diopter ring sets it to your eye, and the whole reticle rotates so you can level it against the horizon rather than reading holdovers off a crooked crosshair. It's 158 grams and 4.3 cm long, a small thing that changes how two people shoot together.

Viper 85mm Reticle Eyepiece: What You Get

• Spotter-to-shooter calls stop being vague, the hashmarked MOA subtension lines give you a measurable scale in the field of view, so corrections go across as numbers the shooter can dial or hold rather than adjectives they have to interpret.
• You can range a target without a rangefinder, secondary ranging references built into the reticle let you estimate distance off a known target size, which is handy when the rangefinder won't read or the battery's flat.
• Your holdovers read true instead of tilted, the reticle rotates so you can level it against the horizon, meaning windage and elevation marks stay square to the world rather than skewed by however the scope sits on the tripod.
• One setting and it's done, a fixed 33.5x magnification and a diopter ring you set once means no zoom ring to bump and no subtension changes to think about, so the reticle values are always the same values.
• It costs you almost nothing to carry, at 158 grams and 4.3 cm it swaps into your existing 85mm Viper HD in seconds, so you can run the standard eyepiece for glassing and drop this one in for range work.

Vortex Viper 85mm Eyepiece FAQs

Will this fit my spotting scope?
Only if it's a current-generation Viper HD 85mm. It will not fit the 65mm Viper HD, and it isn't made for the Razor or Diamondback ranges, Razor has its own ranging eyepiece. If you're unsure which Viper HD you own, check the objective size printed on the barrel: this eyepiece needs the 85mm. Ask us before ordering if you'd rather be certain.

Should I get MOA or MRAD?
Match whatever your rifle scope uses. If your turrets are in MOA, get the MOA eyepiece so spotter and shooter are speaking the same units, that's the entire point. Mixing MOA and MRAD between spotter and shooter reintroduces the mental conversion you bought this to avoid. This listing is the MOA version.

Is it hard to fit or set up?
No. It swaps in place of the standard eyepiece on your 85mm Viper HD in seconds, no tools. Two things to do once: set the diopter ring so the reticle is crisp for your eye, then rotate the reticle until it's level with the horizon. After that it's ready every time.

What does the VIP warranty actually cover?
Vortex will repair or replace the eyepiece if it's damaged or defective, no matter how it happened or whose fault it was. No warranty card, no receipt to keep, and it transfers if you sell it on. It doesn't cover loss, theft, misuse or deliberate damage, and return postage to the service centre is on you.
