The Vortex PST Gen II 5-25x50 FFP deals with both. Twenty-five power on a 50mm objective gives you the detail to read mirage and call your own shots, and the first focal plane EBR-7C reticle keeps its subtensions honest at every power — so a hold taken at 12x is the same hold at 25x, with no conversion and no dialling to a magic number first. Tactical turrets with an RZR zero stop let you dial elevation for the shot and spin back to zero by feel. It's the serious end of the Viper line at 884 grams and 40.6 cm.

MOA or MRAD — which should I choose?
Start with whichever you already think in, and match your ballistic app, your data book and whoever spots for you. Mixing units is how good shooters miss. Beyond that, there's one practical difference here worth knowing: the MOA version has meaningfully more adjustment travel, roughly 20.4 MRAD equivalent of elevation against the MRAD version's 20, and about 10.2 against 10 in windage. Marginal for most shooting, but if you're pushing to extended range on a canted base, the MOA turrets give you a little more room before you run out.

What is the EBR-7C reticle and will I find it cluttered?
It's a hashmarked first focal plane tree reticle — a floating centre with fine windage and elevation marks below for holding wind and drop without touching the turrets. The lower half carries the detail while the upper half stays clean, so the view isn't busy at low power. Because it's first focal plane, every mark holds its value across the full 5–25x range.

What do I need to mount it, and how do I set it up?
It's a 30mm tube, so you need 30mm rings or a 30mm one-piece mount — the 1 inch cantilever mount we stock will not fit this scope. At 40.6 cm long with a 50mm objective it also needs enough ring height to clear the barrel, so check clearance before you commit. Set eye relief by shouldering the rifle until the picture is full with no dark ring, level the reticle, then torque the ring caps gradually in a criss-cross pattern to the manual's values. Zero it, then set the RZR zero stop. Confirm the rifle is unloaded before you start.

What does the VIP warranty actually cover?
Vortex will repair or replace the scope if it's damaged or defective, no matter how it happened or whose fault it was. No warranty card, no receipt to keep, and it transfers if you sell it on. It doesn't cover loss, theft, misuse or deliberate damage, and return postage to the service centre is on you.
