1. What does a DC-DC charger actually do?
It takes power from your alternator or solar and charges your auxiliary battery properly, at the voltage and current that battery needs. Without one, an alternator alone usually won't bring a house battery to a full charge, which is what shortens its life.

2. Can I use it with any battery type?
Yes. It supports AGM, Gel, Flooded, Lithium and custom profiles, with selectable 2-stage or 3-stage charging, so you set it to match the battery you've actually got. A battery temperature sensor is included.

3. How much current will it put out?
40A by default, adjustable from 5A up to 50A, for 775W of output. Charge voltage range is 13.8V to 15.5V with float between 13.0V and 13.8V.

4. Can it take solar as well as alternator input?
Yes, it has a built-in MPPT solar input accepting 14.5V to 45V DC, alongside alternator input from 12V systems (10.5V to 16V) or 24V systems (21V to 32V). It's 242 x 172 x 74mm and about 1.85kg.
